I feel like the elephant who labored and brought forth a mouse. Analogous colors were a cinch, I thought. Reds/purples are my favorite, had my 8″ Structo warped in red and threaded to a miniature overshot pattern.
Well, have you ever looked at the selection of colors in floss that would be suitable? I got a bunch, that I really liked, weren’t too close to one another, red purple to use for tabbies. playing with whole pattern repeats, partial repeats in various colors, single colors with different tabbies, etc. I learned more than I thought I would. 1) Just because colors are analogous, it doesn’t mean they will play nicely together. 2) Changing tabby doesn’t make as much difference as you might expect when they are similar in value. 3) Above all: VALUE WILL TRUMP HUE. I already knew this, but was surprised at how close in value most of my chosen colors were, making for very subdued patterns.
